Flood Relief 2010

An extensive list of household, medical and toiletries pack is being compiled. The set will cost RS 25,000. This package includes a trunk, beds, bedding, kitchen items, clothing for the families, medical kit, hygiene kit, etc. Details of which are on the website. Each house we build, will get this household package.

KRT is distributing to each family items that are basic necessities for them to survive for 30 days. The cost per family is PKR 2,500 (USD 29).

KRT is deploying the EPA certified, 99.9% effective (at removing viruses, bacteria and parasites) LifeStraw Family Instant Microbial Purifiers to all flood affected regions. KRT will deploy 50,000 purifiers to provide up to 10 million liters of purified drinking water per day. These are water filters, with a three-year life, run without power, giving clean, and bacteria free water. KRT has deployed in our camps and most recently in Makli/Thatta. The response of the people was overwhelming. The were delighted to get clean drinking water through KRT.

KRT uptil now has adopted 27 camps with approximately 15000 people in Sindh. Work has already begun in our camps in Kashmore, Sarhad (near Ghotki) Shikarpur, Ghambat, Moro, Qambar, Sakhrand and Thatta. They are being provided with freshly cooked food, medical supplies and clothing. You can see a large number of skin, gastro and respiratory disease cases. Dr. Abdul Bari of Indus Hospital and Dr. Naseeruddin Mehmood of South City Hospital are supporting us by assisting their medical services.
